Feedback on DrupalCamp Grenoble 2026

From April 9 to 11, Drupalcamp 2026 took place in Grenoble.

The event welcomed around 120 participants, with an English-language session room!

Here is a summary of the sessions I attended and the presentations I gave.

Taming Refactoring

I really liked the approach of presenting refactoring as a series of small incremental steps woven into regular tickets, rather than as a big bang.

It once again underscores the importance of automated testing.

This presentation was not recorded.

Style utilities: how can it revolutionize Drupal Core rendering

This session gave me the opportunity to shed light on an often-overlooked aspect of design systems: utility styles. It also showcased the work on the Core issue aimed at adding an API to support them.

Core Design Tokens API: a new standard for Drupal

This session was an introduction to design tokens, their relationship with CSS variables, and a presentation of the Core issue we are working on to add an API for interacting with design tokens.

The short format was really too short, for DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026, I have submitted the topic again but this time in a 40-minute format. Otherwise it ends up being both too much information for the audience and not enough time to go into detail on certain points.

Presentation delivered in French with slides in English.

Don't be afraid: goto hell

An unrecorded presentation, so I'm very glad I attended. I went mostly out of curiosity, having to my recollection never used the goto function.

In the end, it was merely a pretext that occupied the first half of the talk, before pivoting in the second half into a self-critical and self-reflective exercise aimed at raising awareness of the cognitive biases that affect how we interpret a given situation and the information we receive through blog posts, presentations, and so on.

Display Builder, the HTMX-powered visual builder

A presentation and demo by Pierre of the latest development progress on the Display Builder module. Overflowing enthusiasm :)

Contribution

On the contribution side, I mainly updated the Design tokens merge request in Drupal core and did some maintenance on my modules.

Conclusion

Many thanks to the organizers for giving me the opportunity to present 2 topics related to UI Suite, 3 if you count Pierre Dureau's presentation as well.

Thanks to everyone who made this event a success: organizers, sponsors, speakers, and participants.

An event that is always filled with kindness and leaves you re-energized.
